Harvest Monday – 12 November, 2012

Another good harvest, though not quite the variety of last week.

Four strawberries followed up the one we picked last week.  Enough for one each, perfect.

A very small handful of snow peas.

Another 3kg of broad beans.  I already had piles in the fridge from last week, so those ones were peeled, blanched and then peeled again before being bagged for the freezer.

Another big bunch of Russian Red kale, which doesn’t look like it will be slowing down anytime soon.  This bunch was cut up and frozen for later use.

Silverbeet in an attempt to clean up the bed, sadly you can’t really tell I’ve picked any.

Rosemary for some crispy potatoes.

Parsley and lots of it, some went into a beetroot, parsley and feta salad, not my own beetroot unfortunately, but delicious nontheless.

Bay leaves – I pick these often, but always forget to add them to the list.

Lettuce for some steak sandwiches.

That’s it from this part of the world, want more?  Here it is.

I’m definitely planting more broad beans next year – I want some to freeze. In fact I want more to cook and eat now too.

Just enough strawberries to fill a small hand, lovely pic Barb and a great weeks harvest.

  3. Isn’t it great to get just a sample from a garden? This summer we regularly found 2 to 5 strawberries per day rather than a whole bunch at once. This was the perfect size to savor the taste, rather than having so many that we didn’t take the time to savor.
