Harvest Monday – 25 February, 2013

I thought last weeks was a big week for harvesting in our little patch, but this week surpassed it again.  We picked….

5kg of pink fir potatoes

2 Lebanese cucumbers

1 bowl of lettuce (its gone a bit bitter now and ready to go to seed so I think that will be it)

5kg of tomatoes (possibly more as I picked some without weighing them)

350g cherry tomatoes

A couple of handfuls of beans (including the first from the beanettes)

Two eggplants

Two red capsicums

Basil, parsley, spring onions (not pictured).  There may also have been a zucchini in there that I’ve forgotten about.

And just because Miss Three is a bit of a poser at the moment here is her happy face and surprise face, can you guess which is which?

And my personal favourite, sneaking a bean to snack on before dinner.

And of course as always I’m linking up with Daphne and others in their Harvest Monday.

Nice looking spuds – did you grow them in pots or the ground?

    • Barbara Good says:

Liz I grew these in the ground, but with cages around them that I built up as they grew. I wasn’t all that hopeful considering how dry its been and they were fairly neglected so 5kg was a pretty good outcome. Though if you compare it to last year the yield per seed potato works out to be quite a bit lower.

  2. Your tomato harvest has been amazing this year. How many plants do you have? I took your advice and made Roast Tomato and Capsicum sauce last night. Delicious, thanks!

    • Barbara Good says:

I have 6 large tomato varieties and two cherry (although one of those is just starting to ripen now). I saw your post on the roasted tomato and capsicum sauce, looks great!

  3. how cute is your daughter is! She looks so happy about the harvest.
