Harvest Monday – 3 February, 2014

After another hot week, there are few photos from my harvest so apologise for the boring text post.

This week the garden yielded…

More zucchini, just one and of less huge proportions but still large enough.  I’ve been madly making zucchini slices and pastas.

Cherry tomatoes, tiny little Wild Sweeties and about a handful everyday.  Just enough to snack on with the girls.

Strawberries – but fewer than usual.  Some have literally baked on the plants.

Silverbeet – partly sun damaged so will feed a friends rabbits.

Rocket – the last not so bitter bits.

Lots of lettuce

Mint – went beautifully in some lamb meatballs.

Basil – for a zucchini, cherry tomato (most of these were grown by my brother in law) and basil pasta.

Hope you’re harvest has been wonderful this week.  If you’re interested to see what others are picking check the list at Daphne’s (might have to wait until tomorrow though).

Those cherry toms look lovely. I have had a few tomatoes but they are finishing all too rapidly and the plants just haven’t set much new fruit in all this heat. Very annoying. I do like the idea of mint in the lamb meatballs.

The toms were great, pity I didn’t grow the majority of them. Most of my toms are covered in flowers and some fruit but I don’t think I’m going to get a great harvest unless the summer extends into autumn. The mint in the meatballs is good, as is some feta cheese in the centre.
